Bed Rest, Sort Of

Want to know what’s boring? Bed rest. I could not do it. I did have a relaxing day, but there is no way you could actually get me to stay in bed all day. God knows, I’ve been stuck in bed with actual sickness enough this year! There’s no way I’m doing it electively.

I will admit that it was nice to be home and just enjoy the day. I even got to read in my book a little bit. I’m currently reading Fall of Giants by Ken Follett. (I’m still a little grumpy about this book costing more on kindle than in hardback! Grrrrr BUT, it is nice not holding up a 100+ pages like I did with Pillars of the Earth and World Without End)

I spent most of the morning going through old bills and paperwork as well as getting my desk/computer set up for when I am working from home. I’m so happy that working from home is an option for me. I really can’t afford to take a real maternity leave but I know I’m going to need and want the time to be with baby, let my body recover, etc. This way, I can still make a little moohla while I get that time.

A little before noon, I prepared myself a nice little lunch.

Veggies with black olive hummus (so good!) and half of a bagel with melted cheese and ham (not so great..) I also enjoyed some snap peas and cherry tomatos with a light drizzle of Italian dressing. Yeah, a hodgepodge lunch indeed!

The rest of the afternoon was spent getting caught up on my Italian class, which I am seriously behind on. Between work, doctor’s appointments and LIFE I can’t seem to catch up. I was getting really down on myself for this because I was working full time when I was pregnant with Mack and taking a full course load. HOWEVER, I’ve since come to the realization that I wasn’t actually working full time, I was just over half-time AND I was only pregnant, I didn’t have a child running around to keep up with. I’m not down on myself as much now that I’ve put that in perspective. This is my last class and I want to do well, but I’m also not going to be critical of myself for having a hard time keeping up.

I managed to whip up a fun dinner before Nick got home with Mackenzie.

Recipe to follow! I think I’ll call this Turkey Tortilla-less Soup…

Family movie time  :)
