Mackenzie has been really into doing art projects lately.
And he means business! It’s actually testing my artistic skills just keeping up with him. He keeps asking to do projects. This one was to recreate the project displayed on the construction paper package.
Ummm….sure? Why not make a dragon? I hope I can do that…
I think we did pretty good!
I drew the dragon onto the paper and cut it out for Mackenzie. Then I drew out the “spikes” for his back and cut those out. Mackenzie glued the two pieces together. He then drew circles on a yellow piece of paper and I let him cut them out himself (I did a few when he started getting frustrated with the scissors). Mack did all the gluing.
I love projects like this. He was happy no matter what the dragon came out like. The main thing is we got to spend some time together and he had a sense of importance in presenting a project and bringing it to completion.
It’s the little things, I tell ya
We also had a little visitor:
A praying mantis! We definitely didn’t have these back in Seattle and I’m still giddy like a school kid everytime I see one in our yard
