We have already made our stuffing prep, pie crust dough and our appetizer. This next one, I prefer to do before hand but you can wait if you’d like. Since it is quick and easy it isn’t a big deal if you wait until day of. Just keep in mind what all you are doing “actual day” and get as much done before hand as possible. ** Apparently my cranberry sauce is called “relish” – I refuse to agree because relish sounds disgusting. Prep Time: 2 min Cook Time: 10 min Serves: 6 (make a double batch if your crew loves their cranberry sauce)
One bag fresh cranberries, rinsed
1 Cup Water
1 Cup Chopped Walnuts
1/4 Cup Sugar
1 Orange, cut in half (keep the peel on)
**Optional to add in one cinnamon stick
**OPtional to add several whole cloves to your orange
Combine cranberries, water, walnuts and sugar into a kettle and stir thoroughly.
Add in the orange and your optional items, if using.
Simmer over a medium heat until the berries burst – longer if you like your sauce more sauce, less time if you want it more chunky.
Add sugar and chopped walnuts to the cranberries and water.
Stir together gently.
Make a disproportioned dragonfly out of the oranges and cinnamon stick – it will make you happy Okay, maybe that part is optional.
Once the sauce is cooked down to your liking – set aside the orange and cinnamon stick – you will want to use these in your “plating” on T-day.
