Pumpkin Goodness and Badness

Home / Pumpkin Goodness and Badness - January 27, 2012 , by kimberly

Yay finally Friday! I am sooo ready to sleep in tomorrow. I actually have to work in the morning but I am going to pretend that’s not real for the moment…

It is a gorgeous day in Utah! I snapped this picture on my way to work this morning – facing east as the sun comes over the mountains.

This morning’s breakfast was super pumpkin-y! I have a few cans of pumpkin left over from the holidays (left over or hoarded?? I’m not sure…) and was in the mood to put some of it to use today. I made a bowl of oatmeal with pumpkin, splenda and walnuts. I love pumpkin but I have to have a little sweetener otherwise I get this “baby food” type taste going on and I can’t stand it.

I also had a cup sip of Dunkin Donuts Pumpkin Spice coffee. I noticed all this holiday stuff on clearance (baking essentials, holiday spices, etc) at Target the other day and decided I’d give Dunkin Donuts their fair chance. A lot of blogs I read rant and rave about how great Dunkin’s coffee is – especially the pumpkin spice. (I’m looking at you Courtney!) So I tried it.

I should have known better you guys. I know I’m a coffee snob, but still. I smelled the coffee when I opened the bag. It stunk. Mack asked to smell it also. “That stinks mom! You drink that?!” So clearly we were off to a great start. I still brewed up a pot and poured myself a cup. I only had one sip though and that was enough. It’s like licking the end of a 9 volt battery – you have to do it once but it’s not something you want to do every morning. So, my three dollar bag of coffee is now in the trash. Sorry Courtney, I guess we have different taste when it comes to our coffee :)

At least my oatmeal was delicious!

Okay folks, I’ve got news about the physical therapy stuff but it will have to wait for a little bit – I have some ish to figure out. Meanwhile, I’m still rocking the upper body work, returning today to the arms and shoulders workout I did on Tuesday.

Nick gets home from Idaho tonight and I can’t wait to see him! I’m hoping to make a fun “welcome home” dinner but he might beat me home so we shall see how that works out. Have a great day!

Hahaha…I actually don’t enjoy the pumpkin spice coffee from DD’s that you can buy in the bag as much as I do the stuff that they offer in the store. In the store, they sweeten with a not-so-good for you syrup, haha. :)

    1. I forgive you anyways ;) We don’t have DD stores here so this was my one shot at seeing what all the fuss on the east coast was about…

Ewe, 9 volt battery. Yikes, it sends the voltage through me just thinking about it. I know what you mean, though, with a sharp, bad tasting coffee. I’ll think of a nice Caramel Machiato and that sounds good. Beautiful picture of Utah this morning!
