Take a Break Already

Need a break from unpacking boxes?

Why not get in a box yourself??!!

Get in a Box

Yes, that is Mackenzie sitting inside one of his boxes of toys – reading a book. We all desperately needed a break from the whole moving shebang this weekend. We spent a couple weeks getting ready to move, two weeks actually packing and transferring boxes, and now we’ve been in the new house for a week – still living out of boxes. Things are coming together but we have a ways to go.

Hence – road trip!

Saturday morning we decided to say “screw you boxes” and ignore them completely.

We escaped to the farmers market in Ogden which turned into a two hour walk around the park, touring down Historic 25th, and a train ride with the kiddos.

We had also talked about getting coffee and driving through Guardsman Pass in order to enjoy the changing seasons and the beautiful foliage. Last year we drove Guardsman just at the tail end of the season and we were trekking through snow with very few leaves left. We promised ourselves to go earlier this year and to go a couple times throughout the whole evolution from summer to fall to winter.

We drove up Guardsman from the west side (coming from Brighton) and then down Empire Pass into Park City. As we headed toward the freeway to go north back to Ogden we decided that our exploring wasn’t over yet and we headed east for Midvale and Zermatt. A quick stop for snacks and we were back on the road, headed further southeast until we got to American Fork canyon where we took one of the most gorgeous drives of my life. From Sundance to Timpanogos, we enjoyed every twist and turn of the road – nothing to worry about, no boxes to unpack…

American Fork

It was truly a great escape. And sometimes an escape is just what you need in order to come back feeling refreshed and ready to work once again.

What do you escape from? What is your favorite escape destination?
