Remember going to the ice cream shop as a kid – I always loved getting banana splits. The banana with three scoops of vanilla then topped with chocolate and strawberries. Mmm. When I worked at Baskin Robbins (for like three weeks during college) people would order banana splits with one scoop vanilla, one chocolate and one strawberry – then forego the toppings. People are insane.
Because I can’t really justify having a banana split for breakfast – even if my father-in-law is more than happy to give me a pass – I put together a breakfast smoothie that more than satisfies the craving but packs a ton of protein, vitamins and calcium. And very little fat.
Banana Split Smoothie
- Banana – 1
- Strawberries – a dozen or so
- Chobani Plain Yogurt – 1 Cup
- Ice – 1/2 Cup
- Carob Powder – 3 Tbsp, or more for your chocolate-y pleasure
- Honey – 1 Tbsp
Whirl together in a blender…

Turkey Trot Challenge
Woo! Today is day one of the Turkey Trot Challenge. There are about twenty of us doing the challenge so far. It’s not too late to sign up though so round up a running buddy or even just your dog and let’s get this show on the road!
Today is easy peasy, walk 2-3 miles. I’ll be meeting Nick and the kids after work to do a nice walk along the river front trail. Where will you do yours?
