Red Light, Green Light

One of the things I love about doing the 30-minute Express Workout is that I don’t have to think – I can just start at #1 and work my way through the circuit to #20 and ta-da! A great workout! Typically, I do the circuit after a run but yesterday I did the circuit all by itself.

Back at home, I had some work to wrap up so I was especially thankful I had prepped the crock pot before heading in to the office this morning. I had simply put in three frozen chicken breasts and seasoned with salt and pepper. On low all day, it was perfect when I got home (11 hours later!)

I quickly chopped up some zucchini, garlic, kale and cherry tomatoes then  sautéed them a bit in the skillet.

Steamy!!

Once the veggies had cooked down a bit, I added the chicken and some Alfredo sauce. I served it all up over some angel hair pasta.

WP_001906 Don’t you just love when you can pull together a healthy meal in less than ten minutes?! Oh yes, yes indeed!

Nutrition Diva

I recently learned how to sync my phone, which is a Windows Phone, with my iTunes library (I know, I know, welcome to the world of technology!) and now I have podcasts and all kinds of fun things to listen to while I run or workout. On longer runs I like to listen to my audio books from Audible, but on shorter days or times when I’m in the circuit area I like to listen to podcasts instead.

One that really piqued my interest over the last week was a series by Nutrition Diva’s Quick and Dirty Tips for Eating Well and Feeling Fabulous: Biggest Nutrition Traps.

You can download that podcast or read the transcripts by following these links:

I liked all three parts of this series, but the final one “Mean v. Extreme” was my favorite because it talks about how important it is to make healthy life decisions on an ongoing basis rather than just going from one extreme to the next. As the Diva puts it, it is better to have a B average when it comes to your healthy lifestyle than to go from a D to an A to a C to an A+++. She goes on to say that making small, realistic changes are a healthier approach. Read it (or listen), I think you’ll enjoy it. All three will run you about 15 minutes total.

And in case you’re interested…here are some other podcasts I’m loving these days:

Do you guys like podcasts? What are you listening to? I could definitely use some recommendations to grow my collection!
