Yay we made it to Friday!
Yesterday was such a crazy, fun day!
- helping to harvest some of the produce for the Eat Local Challenge…
- setting out the first weekly pickup for the Eat Local Challenge…
- hanging out at the Oasis Summer Nights where Mackenzie picked some crab apples and my friend snapped this total keeper of a shot…
Eat Local Challenge – Week 1
It seems like lately, the urge to shop local is in our face on a pretty consistent basis. Across the country we have marketing campaigns and promotions urging to “shop local” or “spend it here” or “local first.” And we see the stats and the numbers for what shopping local can do for our economy, what it can do for small business owners and how that improves our communities as a whole. But, what exactly does local mean?
In an economy that spreads far beyond the scope of what our parents, and certainly the generation before, were dealing with. A home-based, soap-making company can sell to not only the folks they reach at a small community market, but to an online community that has practically no boundaries, state-line or otherwise.
So what makes a company, or a product, local?
